The Majlis Senator Malaysia (MSM) is an organization comprising members and former members of the Dewan Negara (Senate).

MSM plays an important role in Malaysia’s democracy by carrying out their duties and responsibilities as representatives of the people’s voice. To uphold the prestige of the Dewan Negara, it is essential for Senators to take proactive steps in improving the quality of legislation and their contributions to society.

Provide representation for every state in Malaysia.

The Council of Malaysian Senators ensures that every state in Malaysia has a voice in the legislative process. This objective is vital for promoting equity and inclusivity within the nation’s governance framework. By representing the diverse interests and needs of all 13 states, Senators play a crucial role in safeguarding the rights and priorities of different regions, ensuring that national policies and laws reflect the country’s multicultural and geographical diversity.

Offer views and opinions in the formulation of national laws.

Senators contribute their expertise and insights during the legislative process, offering valuable perspectives to shape and refine national laws. Their role involves thorough deliberation and debate, ensuring that proposed laws align with the nation’s values and priorities while considering long-term impacts. Senators also advocate for policies that are progressive, fair, and beneficial to all Malaysians.

The Council serves as a think tank and advisory body on issues of national and public interest.
